Flower paintings in watercolor or gouache

​

Some of these botanical portraits are drawn and painted life size, others are enlarged to add drama and the plants. Most subjects are cultivated in my garden here in France, some plants like the conditions and some struggle with the summer heat.

 

Painting directly from the subject enables me to study the plant and choose the most interesting aspects and all are painted in a realistic style. Sometimes seeds, roots and buds are included in a composition while other paintings focus on one bloom or seed head.
